About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend required, float to other units as needed

Highlights:

• Progressive Care (Step-Down) unit specializing in surgical post-operative care and general medicine
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 3-4:1 with efforts to maintain 3:1 staffing
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
• 24 hours of orientation provided to support transition into the role
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• First-time travelers welcome; one year of experience required

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must successfully pass telemetry competency assessment
• Experience monitoring telemetry patients strongly preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or director)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Clinical Skills:

• Telemetry monitoring (unit-based and remote)
• Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Blood product administration and central line management
• IV insulin and heparin protocol management
• Starting and maintaining peripheral IVs and PICC line management
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration
• PCA pump management and titration of insulin drips
• Wound care including wound vac management
• Surgical drain management and phlebotomy

Patient Population:

• Adult and geriatric patients
• Post-surgical patients including bariatric and colorectal surgery
• General medicine and surgical overflow patients

Important Compliance Information:

• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed immediately upon contract signing

• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible
• Former employees must have been away from the facility for 6+ months to be eligible
